Frequently Asked Questions

A Nurse Practitioner (NP), also known as an Advanced Practice Nurse, is a Registered Nurse who has completed additional clinical and didactic training at a master’s or doctoral level. The training focuses on disease prevention and looking at the total patient — a wholistic perspective. NPs are trained to consider not just the symptoms affecting a patient, but also the social-emotional components of their well-being. There is a heavy emphasis on patient education, that is teaching complicated topics in small digestible chunks, so that you walk away really understanding what was relayed to you.

A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) is trained in the foundations of nutrition and focuses on the bio-individuality of every person. The therapy (i.e. recommendations) will focus on a nutrient-dense, whole-food diet with special attention to digestion, healthy fats, blood sugar regulation, minerals and hydration as well as a balanced lifestyle.

Yes and No. When I’m working in my cardiology practice, then yes, I am functioning under standardized procedures, defined by the State of California, which allow me to diagnose and treat disease. In all services provided by me through Nutrition NP, I am not treating or diagnosing disease; however, I am bringing more than 20 years of clinical knowledge to the decisions and recommendations that I provide. In this regard, I cannot separate the depth of knowledge that I gained through decades of clinical practice and look forward to bringing that value to our interactions.

I utilize the 3×4 Genetics Test in my practice. It allows me to personalize nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to you — no cookie cutter plans here! Nutrigenetics is how we respond to the nutrients and/or the environment based on our specific DNA. Nutrigenomics is how the food and environment change the way our genes express themselves (the things you experience) in our daily lives. Our health is determined by a combination of our genes and the choices we we make.

I help busy, professional women and men crack the code to your body’s unique nutrient and lifestyle needs and elevate your wellness to levels you’ve never imagined.

Clients who seek my services are usually struggling with one or more of the following concerns: low energy, brain fog, unwanted weight, favorite clothes no longer fitting, interrupted sleep, bloating, digestive issues, sugar cravings, achy joints and mood dysregulation.

Personalized Nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all approach to dietary choices. Through genetic testing, we can determine the genes that have the greatest impact on your body and choose nutrition recommendations to support those pathways. This is a unique opportunity to blend my clinical expertise with your bio-individuality and biochemistry to create actionable plans for optimal nutrition, lifestyle modifications and targeted supplements.
